Julep Room Lounge
About This Spot
Stepping into Julep Room Lounge feels like slipping into a quietly treasured hideaway tucked beneath the warmth of Ocean Springs’ vibrant Washington Avenue. This cocktail bar holds an intimate, laid-back rhythm that invites you to slow down and savor the moment, far from the buzz of larger crowds. The space hums with a gentle energy, where soft lighting and well-worn wood create an inviting backdrop for shared stories and handcrafted drinks.
Once inside, there’s a comforting sense of familiarity mingled with a subtle hint of history—rumor has it this was once a favored haunt of Elvis Presley, a piece of local lore that adds its own layer of charm. The lounge's connection to Aunt Jenny’s Catfish House Restaurant above lends it a rooted, neighborly spirit, where the focus is just as much on connection as it is on the cocktails.
The bartenders here weave a quiet magic, serving up drinks that feel thoughtfully composed rather than showy. Whether you lean towards a classic like Jack Daniels & Coke or prefer to explore something from their well-curated beverage selection, every pour fits seamlessly into the easygoing vibe. There’s also the gentle hum of live music on weekends, filling the room with just enough melody to enhance conversations without overwhelming them.
Beyond the drinks, the Julep Room Lounge welcomes those who appreciate a little playfulness—shuffleboard tables offer a low-key way to engage with friends, making it a spot where both locals and visitors feel at ease. It’s a place for quiet moments and lively exchanges alike, where you can soak in a piece of Ocean Springs' soulful nightlife without needing to shout to be heard.

Had to stop for a drink. Our Last night in Mississippi. This lounge and music venue is the cellar of Aunt Jenny's Catfish House Restaurant.

Great bar with an awesome bartender. This was a great find while on a weekend getaway suggested by the folks at Gils. Plenty of seating and great live music on a Saturday night. Drinks are great!

One of the most wholesome bars I’ve ever been to with great service. Great if you're not in the mood to deal with large crowds. My wife is a big Elvis Presley fan and evidently this is a bar he frequented regular when in Mississippi. I met Bird (maybe spelled Byrd), who was bartending at the time, and we got some history and insight as to where Elvis sat, his favorite drink, etc. Best of all, it felt like I was at home speaking to the bartender at my regular go-to bar. If you’re ever in this area, check it out. As a bonus, it has a great view of the bayou!

What a great atmosphere and a former regular stop for Elvis when he was in the area. I'll be back the next time I visit the Mississippi coast.

I love that you can get food from Aunt Jenny's at the bar if you go during restaurant hours. The drinks are top notch and the atmosphere is great. They always have good live music on weekends and it's a fun place to hang out with friends.

This is a very interesting place and in my opinion a must visit. You can feel the history of this place.. A dark character filled cellar on the back side and under a popular restaurant that once entertained people like Elvis Presley. Cozy and unique.. A solid variety of beers and liquor. This place is a hidden gem. Live music on some nights including an open Mike on Wednesdays. It's the kind of place you want to come sit for a while hangout, relax. and have good conversation.
